Anime ExCo classes are
not directly affiliated with the Anime Club, but they do have the club's
definite moral support. This semester there are two anime exco's:

Love and Gender Roles in the High School Drama, EXCO-403 (0-1 Credit)
John Weil
Anime's surprising number of progressive portrayals of women is not
without a bit of irony considering Japan's still regressive treatment
of women. Is the continued oppression of women merely the dying traces
of Neo-Confucianism or an integral part of Japanese culture? Through
the settings of two anime high-school dramas (Princess Nine and I My
Me! Strawberry Eggs), we will examine Japanese views on gender and
their place in the past and future of Japan.
Wednesdays, 7:30pm, King TBA.

Shoujo Anime Survey, EXCO-402 (0-1 Credit)
Becca Schlichtig
'Shoujo' is the term for anime directed towards a
female audience (but of course everyone can enjoy!) We will
be watching two shoujo-themed anime series, Ayashi no Ceres
and Fruits Basket.
Thursdays, 9pm, King TBA.
